![]() ![]() Although, I probably need to upgrade my PC to see this game at its full potential. The addition of real-time ray tracing sees this game flex its graphical muscles like a proud bodybuilder, with the shadows and reflections on the car windows and paintwork only adding to the already sublime graphics that this title boasts. And that level of detail continues with the cars too, with the game even simulating paint thickness and the layering of dirt, so each car will have unique context-aware damage and dirt buildup. There are 20 tracks primed for launch including iconic circuits such as Maple Valley, Silverstone, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Laguna Seca Raceway, Nurburgring, and Suzuka – and there are more to come post-launch.Īll of the tracks have been built using laser scans and photogrammetry, and thanks to the new dynamic time-of-day system (available on all tracks) you can experience everything from sunshine-soaked tarmac to atmospheric thunderstorms in epic detail – with a small change in the weather or temperature impacting the level of grip in real-time.Įvery track uses physically based lighting and volumetric fog effects, with a fully procedural cloud system evolving organically lap-by-lap. It looks and sounds better than any racing game I've ever played. On a technical and graphical level, Forza Motorsport is a majestic achievement. But, it's not perfect by any means, and there are gameplay elements that will need to be improved if the studio is serious about wanting to foster an engaged racing community in the long term. In fact, it's the most photorealistic racing game I've ever played. So while I've played (and loved) the Forza Horizon games, as an Xbox Series X owner, I've been aching for a new Forza Motorsport entry – one that boasts the graphical fidelity of the Horizon series but with the driving physics of a sim.Īnd that's exactly what Turn 10 has delivered with Forza Motorsport. Instead of festivals, or going from point A to point B, I prefer roaring around proper, real-life racetracks and pushing the limits of grip in cars that are scarily fast. But as someone who's more of a sim racer, my idea of fun is more. It's not difficult to understand why they were exceptionally popular. These titles were graphically stunning while offering fun and varied gameplay. Turn 10's Forza racing game series is now an absolute powerhouse, with its last two major releases – Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5 – receiving universal acclaim, and rightly so. Turn 10 has returned to its spot behind the wheel and has steered the series reboot to straddle the line between a serious sim racer and the more frivolous fun of Forza Horizon. After six long years, Forza Motorsport is back and better than ever.
